About New Art Theory
New Art Theory gives people still at, or just after graduating from any BA, MA or international equivalent programme the opportunity to show their written work in the context of a professional academic publication. With a yearly winner nominated from a shortlist of the worlds most promising new critical writing talent on the subject of art.
New Art Theory is one of only a few open writing competitions on art in the UK. The purpose of New Art Theory is to extend the opportunity for open critical debate outside the educational institution and as such - in addition to a publication of shortlisted works - all submissions received can be read online. The shortlist and winning selection is made by a diverse panel of professional artists and writers who are selected yearly.
As an organisation New Art Theory is completely independent of any art school or academic institution, it allows applicants a democratic chance for the merits of the work itself to shine through.
